Math Madness Wednesday: Football!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL…..themed products!? I don’t know about you, but I love football season! And, a lot of kids do too. So, why not use their enthusiasm to help them teach or practice your classroom skills?
This is another one of my Ten Frames games, but this one is for subtraction rather than addition.
The game board and directions are fairly simple and easy to understand. They just spin, cover that number of footballs, and count how many footballs are left.
Next, they write down their work on their recording sheet and move on to the next person’s turn. That is it!
Are your kids up for a bit more of a challenge? What about a problem solving football game?

In my BRAND new game, students answer football related questions to move down the football field towards a TOUCHDOWN. To get down the field, they must answer addition and subtraction word problems correctly. This version includes 1 and 2 digit numbers, with and without regrouping.

And, of course, you can’t go wrong with adding books about football to your classroom library or read aloud schedule.

As a big Peyton Manning fan, I love this book.

If your kid loves Football and dinosaurs, this is a great rhyming book!

Another football family, the Barber brothers, join forces for this book.

And, the king of all sports books, Mike Lupica has several football themed chapter books for hesitant readers who love sports!  This is one of my favorites!

What is your favorite football book to read or math activity to try?  I would love to hear from you!
